KAYAKING AND RAFTING

Lake Tahoe is a great place to explore by kayak. If you’ve never kayaked before, try one of the “sit on top” kayaks that are very popular on the lake. Single and tandem kayaks are available for rent at various locations around Tahoe. The east shore south of Incline Village is very nice for padding. One trip that’s very popular starts at Kings Beach and heads out to Brockway Point, at the California/Nevada border (it’s about a 1 mile paddle out to the point).  You can rent kayaks from these two shops in Kings Beach. You can also arrange for kayak drop-off at various locations around the lake, including Sand Harbor.

Rafting the Truckee River is a popular low-key activity. You can rent rafting equipment at Tahoe City for a one-way trip to River Ranch, which is about 5 miles downriver. The Truckee River flows pretty slowly here, although it little more exciting just before your exit at River Ranch.
