LAKE TAHOE MARKETS
Raley’s Supermarket (Incline Village): Raley’s is our big local supermarket – it’s on the north side of Highway 28 just east of Village Blvd.
Village Market (Incline Village): This is a smaller market than Raley's and is known for their meat department. To get there from the condo, take Highway 28 west, left on Northwood, right on Mays Blvd. – the market is at 770 Mays. Tel. 775-831-5025. http://www.villagemeats.com/
Safeway (Kings Beach) located 3 miles past the California/Nevada border on Highway 28, just past Highway 267. We generally like Raley's better.
Farmers Markets: there are several farmers markets in the area, starting late spring and ending early fall. Kings Beach has a farmers market on Tuesday morning that usually starts in early June - look for the tents on the beach. The farmers market on Thursdays in Tahoe City is much bigger than the Kings Beach farmers market and it starts earlier in the season, around mid-May - it's on Commons Beach (park around the Blue Agave restaurant, and walk towards the lake).
RENO MARKETS
If you're heading towards Reno, you'll generally find better selection and prices in Reno than at the Lake. Being a cooler for perishables.
Whole Foods Market: located off Highway 395 just east of the Neil Road exit, Whole Foods carries a wide variety of gourmet foods at prices that are sometimes better than the Tahoe markets. http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/reno/
King Ranch Market: This Mexican Market (it's really a complete grocery store) is a little hard to find, but they have some amazing prices, particularly on fruit and produce specials, and they move a lot of volume so it's usually very fresh. Take the Plumb Road exit off 395, west on Plumb, right on South Virginia, take your next immediate right on South Wells Ave., it's 4 blocks up South Wells on your right. http://www.superkrm.com/index.html
Costco: Highway 395 to Plumb Lane, west on Plumb, first left into Airport Square Shopping Center.
