- August: Hot August Nights in Reno. This event draws huge crowds to celebrate America’s love affair with the automobile. http://www.hotaugustnights.net/.
- August: Concours d’Elegance and Wooden Boat Week at Carnelian Bay. Every year this festival draws some incredible classic boats. This year’s marquee features “Boats of the Twenties”. http://www.laketahoeconcours.com/.
- September: Great Reno Balloon Race, a very fun hot air balloon festival. Get there early for the mass ascent. We did this in 2007 and it was very fun and memorable. http://www.renoballoon.com/.

- September: Reno National Championship Air Races at Stead Airport, about 15 miles north of Reno and it’s quite an event, featuring air races of different classes/vintages, a dizzying array of exhibits and tours, and a wide variety of air show acrobatics. http://www.airrace.org/indexJS.php.

- September: Tahoe Sierra Century: organized bike ride on the north shore to benefit Tahoe schools. 30, 60, and 100 mile options. www.tahoesierracentury.com.
- September: Truckee Renaissance Faire at the Truckee Regional Park, a benefit for Truckee area schools. http://www.truckeerenfaire.org.
- October: Downtown Truckee Wine Walk and Shop from noon to 4PM (admission includes commemorative glass, unlimited wine tasting, and 5 food tickets).
